An Expanse in the Midst of the Waters

Yael Harnik is a textile artist based in Tel Aviv. Her artist book, An Expanse in the Midst of the Waters, brings together works, reflections, and experiences from her six years of living and working in Tokyo, Japan. The book offers a glimpse into Japanese culture from a Western perspective, as well as into Harnik’s own creative process.
I developed the book’s concept, typographic system, visual language, and overall structure, creating a bilingual publication with two reading directions. I also oversaw the book’s production from design through printing.
